In Nyanza Province, that belt of land that wraps around Lake Victoria in Kenya, East Africa, live 3.5 million Luo people. In one of the larger denominations there, each pastor averages nine local churches.
Think on that for a moment: nine churches for one pastor. That means each congregation gets to see their pastor in the pulpit every ninth week.
Each local church has men and women who are eager to help out with counseling, evangelism and preaching, but these people-while passionate-are completely lacking training for this important work.
Now add to that mix an explosion in cults. Nomiya Luo is one of them. Roho Maler is another. There are dozens more. Well-intentioned people, excited about their faith, follow any wind of doctrine that blows their way, not out of any desire to subvert the Gospel, but simply because they don't know what the truth is.
Timothy Leadership Training is dedicated to working with these kinds of people, not only in Kenya, but in Cambodia, Nicaragua, Mexico, Burkina Faso, Russia, Bangladesh and more than 20 other countries.
